The War Museum

Greg took a group off yesterday to the War Museum. Charise, Alicia, Arta, Kathy and Knud were in that group. The rest of us went to East Street Market in the pooring rain and freezing cold, mostly to buy meat and vegetables for the group. We came home drenched and cold but with food.

Greg was doing his tour of the war museum.

Before the six left for the War Museum, at the flat elevator, Arta was asking Greg what they would be seeing. He said everythng, but that when it came to the holocaust part of the war museum, he thought it better to take Chairse and Alicia and go to some other part of the museum, so that was set up in his mind and off they went.

Only if you have been to the war museum will you know how much there is to see there: World War I, World War II, the Korean War, the Cold War -- so much sorrow in each room. The group started with World War I and watched the changes in weaponry, in uniform styles and then they moved into the part where the visitors can go through one of the trenches, with the sounds of war ringing in one's ears.

Alicia has her new camera and she was busy taking pictures. Charise was fleshing out piece that Greg was missing in the history of war, Arta was running back and forth, trying to keep Alicia and Charise up with the rest of their group when they would be hanging behind to see just one thing more in a case or read just one last paragraphy on a sign.

Then in an instant, when they were ahead and Alicia and Charise were behind, .... they disappeared. Cathy and Knud, Greg and Arta split off in different directions to find them with no avail. Finally Greg set the 3 who were not lost off in the direction of a WW II replica of a British home, complete with washboard and laundry hanging by a stove while he proceeded to have an announcement go out over the museum to have the girls come to the desk.

No checking in from them, though. So three carried on and Greg continued his search.

As Arta was going up to the holocaust museum, she heard Charise calling her name from a balconey above her. She looked up, happy to have seen her and telling her that she must find Greg to alleviate his anxiety for now all was well.

Where were you,she asked. We didn't hear from you after the announcement went out looking for you.

"Oh, I was showing Alicia the holocaust museum," Charise said.

So ... they all got to see the Holocaust part of the War Museum.

Greg was the one having the anxiety attack in the museum, but not quite as bad as when he thought Charise had drowned in Shuswap Lake.

Last night we played two tables of bridge and Charise and Alicia went to the kitchen and played nerts. They were laughing hysterically and those of us playing bridge were wishing that bridge was that much fun. While we were playing bridge, the four women wf Mfere at one table and all the men at another. So I went and got a big bag of M&M peanuts that were here from Costco plus a bag of choclate covered ju jubes and a big bag of bridge mix that I purchased in Calgary for my airplane mix. After I saw that my purchase of ju jubes and bridge mix was 22 dollars at Safeway, I was hording them for a day when I might need them. This was that day. So I got the three big portions of chocolate and filled a huge glass bowl with my mix and put it in front of the ladies group. Finally, we shared with the others.

Arta, Alicia and Charise are sharing the small bedroom with the double bed, next to Greg and I. One of them sleeps on a mat on the floor and the other two in the double bed. Arta asked them what their favorite thing of the day was. Charise's best thing was that she could keep track of Alicia all day and be with everyone without losing her cool and becomingand beoming stresses. Alicia's best thing was laughing so hard with Charise in the kitchen.

I woke the girls today at 11:40 a.m. and told them to shower and get ready to go to the Aquarium with Laynie. However, part of the group just walked in without Alicia, Charise, Janet and Laynie becuase it was too busy out today because it is a bank holiday today and everyone is out on the streets.

So tonight Greg, Wyona, Alicia and Charise are going to Love never Dies and the other eight are going to Midsummer Nights Dream at the Globe.

I am off for a nap so that Greg nor Tim need to wake me in the show tonight.
