Many hands make light work ...

There have been many "firsts" for David this Fall. There have been many hands contributing to this.

1. The first group bicycle ride (thanks to the hands that pumped air into the tires, adjusted the seat for his new height, took the training wheels off, and held the back of his seat to keep him balanced as he did his part pedaling and having courage.)

2. The first successful independent tying of his shoes (thanks to the hands that held back and were patient while he did his part, to the hands that helped him practice at school, on weekends, and weeknights).

3. The first successful Halo game with another person where he could practice winning, losing gracefully, and "talking smack" (thanks to the hands that played on the other controller).

4. The first touch of a pomegranate seed (thanks to the hands that purchased the fruit, that picked the seeds out side-by-side with him, and the hands that cleaned up the pomegranate juice left on the counter.)

  1. The concept of "many hands" is a loaded one for me. Thank you to the many sets of hands that took the moss from my roof, that cleaned my eaves, the lined my open cupboards with oak paneling, that prepared a lovely sit-down dinner for me, that ordered food for me from far-away places and that is all in the last week.

Overwhelming gratitude. That is what I feel.
