Zack's Boy's Choir Sings

Mount Royal University Conservatory's 25th Annual Concert
Marcia invited me to hear Zach in concert tonight at the Jubilee Auditorium; the Calgary Boy’s Choir were on the programme along with the Calgary Youth Orchestra, the Heebee-jeebees, the School of Alberta Ballet, the Tryzub Ukrainian Dance Ensemble and Holly Blazina, Flamenco Dancer. I don’t know which was my favorite part of the star filled night. Perhaps that moment before a concert begins and everyone tunes to the oboe’s A. The perfect A, thought – always in search of that elusive letter, either in sound or on a test.

The night was filled with different timbres – voices, instruments, the driving rhythms of the flamenco artists, the majesty of the Hallelujah Chours. We had it all.

... programme signed by Zack ...
I did like to watch Zach’s choir sitting stage right, them turning to watch the Heebee-jeebee’s clown their way through some quartets. Zack’s fingers were at his collar at the side of his neck. I saw them tap in rhythm, and then he changed to double time for a while, never taking his eyes away from the performers, nodding his head in time to the music of the other artists on the stage.

Greg, Wyona, Marcia and I had Row D seats, so our view of the stage was perfect.

Art was supervising backstage.

We gathered together when the performance was over to take pictures and talk about our favorite moments of the concert.  We may have taken a few photos at the Jubilee in the foyer -- ones where you can appear to be dressed in a tutu or playing a base fiddle.

All in all, n evening to remember.

  1. It was a delightful Christmas concert. We were fourth row and Zach came on stage right in front of us. I had to yell his name 3 times and wave my arms frantically before he acknowledged me. Good thing he cracked a small smile and waved his music one inch high while sort of turning his head towards us. I would have hated to have called his name out all through the evening.
