Christmas with the Bates-Treleaven-Oldham's

We spent Christmas Eve at the Zoo. It was cold, but worth it. Pictures don't work out well in low light when you have only a little photography skill, but here are some of the better ones.

Christmas morning at the Treleaven's was a surprise with iPads and Barbies. Here the kids have chosen their favourite gifts for a picture. A picture rule for our kids: you can do a goofy pose only after you do a nice pose, hurray for digital photography.

  1. I love the traditional pose/goofy pose rule. Just love Gabe's arms stretching out to take up the space he deserves. And I hope Audra's Barbie collection continues to grow.

A big yes to the joys of digital photography. I sometimes take 100 pictures to get one good one.

So cute to see Audra's eyes as she sips from a cup of something hot, I presume.

    1. All my kids are photogenic, or maybe that's just a bragging parent. At any rate, a few years ago, someone (can't even remember who now) told us that we have very good looking kids, and that they have seen this before... where average looking people have great looking kids. Art and I regularly remind each other that we are average looking and our kids are great looking, and then we laugh and laugh. I still think it is so funny that someone would say that, especially when I am married to the second handsomest man in the world (the first is a movie star I won't mention).

  2. I tried to enlarge the Christmas picture to see if I could see the title of he book Audra is holding. To have a child hold up a book as one of their favorite presents -- even before she can read? Now that is good parenting.

    1. That would be really nice if it was a book. Unfortunately they are Cinderella press-on nails. She loves them. She got a set from a birthday party she went to a couple of months ago, and found this set in her stocking. They are her favorite thing. There are about 60 nails in the set, so she can have them on 6 times. She does love books, but loves fake nails too.

  3. Oh no! Cinderella Press On-Nails. No wonder her smile is ear to ear. Had I gone shopping in a store, I would never have put that in my cart. Those sound to me like accessories that should be purchased for the summer Mermaid Party as well. What a find!

As to telling who is the handsomest and then second handsomest man in the world, I tried to guess ahead as to whom you would say, and I could see it going in the direction of you saying that your dad was the handsomest man in the world.

So now that I know your answer is a movie-star, does that put Greg third?

  4. Greg has no place on the handsome men list. He is worn out. He is old. He is shovelling snow off of the roof here at Shuswap at the present time. He looks his dashing best when he gets his tux on and goes out on the dance floor.Have to get him on a cruise to get that to happen.

Gabe, Zach and Audra love their iPads. It was the first thing they showed me when we got back from Texas.

I remember living in Regina and spending $35.00 on a handful of smurfs, because that is what our kids wanted for Chrismas. That money hurt. But best to get them what they want and not what you want for them. I learned that the hard way.
