Saskatoon Berry Sauce

... now a compote for waffles and cream ...

Mary had her kids and their friends go pick saskatoons along the road.

"Do we have to?"

That seems to be the question to every request.

If we are having a game night.

If there is a film night.  

If there are beds to make.

A porch to sweep.

"Do we have to" is an excellent question for teens.

It is their job to ask those questions until they are adults, and then into post-adulthood.

Mary had in her mind to make a saskatoon sauce to put on the whipped cream, to put on the waffles.

When she is in the kitchen, food always looks better.  

She stands by the sauce and lets it simmer, and all of a sudden, that distaste for saskatoons starts to disappaer, and the thought of  having a bit of it now seems pleasing.

She made a warm salsa put on the garlic and sesame seed oil roasted chicken.

All of this is in her mind -- how to maximize happiness around food.

Just not the sauce but then a side salad.

I love having her around.
