Our Mini Earthquake

From Bonnie in Salmon Arm

Salmon Arm experienced a minor earthquake on the weekend.  It was so short lived that we didn't even have time to "duck and cover". It felt like something hit our home. If I'd been counting, I'd say it lasted less than 2 seconds.

My guess was a tree hit our roof. Joaquim's guess was that something fell in the basement. A neighbor thought a car had ran into their garage. Other hypotheses included a sonic boom (from a plane) or a comet/meteor strike. One thing we all had in common was our imagination. When something unfamiliar and unexpected happens, our brains work hard to make sense of it. To my surprise, David simply shrugged, and wanted to continue watching the Three Muskateers on Netflix.

David is the only one in our home that has done an earthquake drill. Annually at school they get to practice ducking under their desks. He is getting so tall - it must be getting harder to fit there. He measured 5'7 the other day.
