I learned the name of this flower from Laynie whose dad taught it to her when she was a little girl though he didn't teach her all of this: Nemophila menziesii, known commonly as baby blue eyes or baby's-blue-eyes is an annual herb, native to western North America.
I didn't know that, Ria. This flower is often in the wet meadow down by the stream. You sent me out on a search for its etymology. A mix of Latin and Greek. I found out that nemophila means "woodland-loving". It comes from the Latin word nemus, which means "grove" or "wooded glade", and the Greek word philos, which means "loving".

ReplyDeleteNemophila means 'to love a grove'. Which probably says something about where this plants likes to grow.
