Poem from the garden

Today I fell in love with a jumping spider

White and black hairs cover a body no bigger than a sunflower seed

Green eyes iridescent in the morning light

She scurries down the green stem

Tiny jumps to the garden’s edge

Turns away

Pauses

Turns again and scurries up

Onto my earth dusted hand

Hello tiny friend

I love you

She jumps into the long grass and disappears
