Ottawa Pride Parade

It was our first Ottawa Pride Parade.  We have been to the Montreal one, but our first time here in our home region. 

I was surprised and happy about how long the parade was.  Because this is a government town, there were lots of federal departments (including a coast guard float that had a boat on it) participating (though I would have loved to see more), lots of City of Ottawa munciapl department participants (a firetruck and ambulance), including city public transit (a big hybrid bus), a big hydro truck, many school boards, community housing groups, 2SLGBTQIA+ advocacy and support groups (youth, refugees, health care, and more).

I had such fun checking out the banners for each parade participant and trying to find out what group they represented. It was joyfull and celebratory, so many great t-shirts and people dressed-up, and lasted almost 2 hours.

I forgot my hat and am now suffering the sunburn consequences, but it was worth it.

We spotted some fun characters from popular culutre that came all the way to Ottawa for the parade.

And why not throw in some friends from the Multi-Verse.

We love our healthcare providers, so I did catch photos of the Midwives Collective (for Naomi who has just started her post-sec nursing education -- she wants to be a lactation specialist -- as she says... Babies and Boobies) and the LGTBQ+ Doctors and Allies group.

One of the moments I nerded out on the most came near the end -- a marching band!!  And they were playing We are Family.  I definitely squealed.
