Putting My Plants Outside to Harden Off

From Glen

Today at about 7:30 am, I put my plants out to harden off before going to do some trail maintenance.

As I was placing my last plant down and my hip dislocated again. Luckily Janet had told me that I needed a working cell phone before going, in case I dislocated my hip. I had set it up under Janet’s Appleid today. Unluckily, I had left it in the house on the TV bar and there is no way I could have retrieved it. Janet was wrong, I didn’t need a cell phone.

I just yelled, as loud as I could, “help me!” Shauna came running down the hill and saved me. Janet isn’t getting home until 6:30 today. It would have been so painful.

The ambulance came and took me to Vernon. They reduced the dislocation about 12:00 noon. Luckily they give this really strong pain killer that makes you high. In fact I recall saying this time and last time that it felt like I was in the Matrix. The experience was exactly the same. I wouldn’t go through a dislocation to get the drugs but they sure are a great bonus. Janet came and drove me to Salmon Arm where I caught a ride back with David.

Now I have a cast on four two days.

Jeremey, I can hardly wait to go riding with you next time you come out. It is your turn.

Hydroponic Garden

... the view of the lake from the hydroponic garden ...
David and Shauna Pilling have a hydroponic garden:  a beautiful view and a great advertizement for Wolseley Plumbing as well.

An amazing garden that you don't have to weed.

David bought a pump  from Wolseley Plubing, and some buckets and some pvc.

At the beach, one day,  Laynie, Connor and Glen went for a walk toward Johnson's Point.

Laynie  saw a blue barrel that she wanted to rollback back up to the house, but Connor said, no leave that.  No one wants it.  So Laynie left it.

David Pilling saw the blue barrel next and the blue bucket has migrated up to his house and that is now his reservoir.

David also has electrical conduit up there.  David will turn that into a green house.  So cool.

David and Shauna went out tonight to go fishing.

... a Pilling pallet place for plants ...
... to b ie seen at the back of Connor and Carly Mariee's house ...
As well, David and Shauna went to D Dutchmen for their Friday night date.

She wanted a litre or two of lemon meringue ice cream, arguably the best flavour in the dairy.

The clerk went to the back and brought out all she had, two 11 litre buckets.

Shauna just couldn't tell the lady no, take one back, so now they have two.

That is roughly $100 worth of ice cream.  I say, $100 well spent.
 ....
Now speaking of Connor, he built 3 raised beds out of pallet.

He has a 2 section compost made of pallet.

He also has a pallet campfire.

Now he can sit around and have a fire there since it is fine with fire regulations.

Although Connor might walk by a blue barrel, he would never walk by a pallet.

My New Neighbour

... my new neighbour ...
A few days ago I received a text that said, “I can pick you up tomorrow in my truck.”

I wrote back, “You have the wrong number.”

Today I received a phone call from David Pilling saying, “I texted you, but you said wrong number. I was going to show you my house.”

An offer to see his new home?

I can leave my jobs here and jump in his truck any day.

Well, not jump. Lift one leg up into the cab and scootched part of my body onto the seat.

Then grab a handle that seems connected to the windshield truck, tug on it with my hand and make a leap that also requires faith whether a person is religious or not.

... a sneak peak at the kitchen ...
The road up to his house seems more narrow now that it has snow banks on either side. “In a few weeks, or maybe even days we won’t be able to get up this road without creating deep ruts in it,” he said.

I can see why. The snow is just starting to melt and occasionally there is a hint of dirt on the road.

I have been longing to see what changes David has made.

I saw places where the drywall has had to come down.

Now the wires are exposed and they run through the studs and to the electrical box.

What I will never get over is the fact that the view is spectacular out of every window.

At the bottom of his stairs there is a long narrow window which I think has been added and at which I wanted to linger.

I can hear David saying in the future to some little child, “You get a time-out.” And then the poor little thing has to go sit on those steps and contemplate the beauty of the world through that glass.

The inside of the upstairs has been repainted.

I love it that the colour of the kitchen matches Shauna’s Kitchen Aid.  I don't know which came first:  the colour on the walls or buying the machine.
... a winter view from the deck looking west ...

Hamburger buns and a new loaf of bread, both created via the Kitchen Aid, were on the counter.

There an automatic vacuum on the floor.

David says, “That machine is programmed to do its job every afternoon at 4:30 pm.”

When the division of labour is made at their house, who has to do any real work.

I walked around that lot so many times last summer.

The breath taking view is spectacular no matter which way a person looks.

No use going any further to find heaven.
