I want to learn about blogging so I'm going to start posting here to see how it works.

I like to research places to go in the world.  I like looking at hotels and imagining what it will be like to travel different places.  I'm gonna share fun places I want to go.  My mom says that's called making a BUCKET LIST.

Today I'm thinking about Hawaii.

A blogger I follow (Grace's Room) shared a video of Hawaii.  I thought it looked great.

On the North Shore of Oahu there are 3 waterfalls I would like to visit. One is called Waimea Falls and it looks like so much fun.  It is a deep swimming hole.

If you travel to Hawaii now during COVID 19 it's good to know that all arriving passengers have to quarantine for 14 days.  HMMMMM.  No beaches for 2 weeks.  That's no fun.

Here is a photo my mom took on the island of Molakai in 1998.

This place is called Kalaupapa and is an old Leprosy colony you can learn more about it here.

If I ever go to Hawaii, I want to stay in a resort like the Grand Wailea Hotel in Maui.  This hotel has everything including amazing gardens,  9 pools connected by a lazy river, private balconies, 4 water slides, car rentals and beach front access.   A room costs $850 per night.  You could also rent a 3 bedroom villa for $1495 per night.

Jarvis Family Holiday - Surprising Things in Iceland

The new colour of my silver rings after three days of bathing in 

Icelands rejuvenating hot waters. 

Chalk that up to a chemical reaction between silver and sulfur.  

Hoping the rings don't start giving off the same odour as the water taps. 

Any tips on restoring their original color?

Lessons Learned on the Driveway

Catherine writes:

 My favourite part of the Sabbath was this picture Hebe drew for me after playing on the driveway with the Ruth and Avrums's grandchildren.

 I call it Important Life Lessons learned on the driveway on a Sunday afternoon, otherwise known as "Instructions for jumping on a pogo stick."

 My favourite part is about getting a jelly bean.

Quarter Quelle - Day 9

... a bright blue treasure ...

Today the first thing Hebe wanted to do was play with play dough.

My job was to soften up the many tubs of play dough that we have accumulated over the last 6 months.

Can you see the before and after photos below.

Hebe's job was to make cupcakes.

Can you see the one topped with blueberries?

... so many good colours ...

How about the one topped with a balloon and the play dough logo.

A Note from Arta

Just to join in with the play dough theme, I was over at Michael's and Alice's and the same thing was going on.

Some of the play dough was soft, but I took on the task of reconstituting the small packages that were now hard.


No easy task.

The water would slip around the outside, but the piece I was doing didn't take to having water added and I was flattening it out and then folding it, and then stretching it, and all of this slipping was going on in around my palms and even through my fingers.

The first picture in this post reminded me of that, since there are those tiny grains of blue playdough that stay on your hands long after the ball is soft and pliable again.

I guess takes two small people to roll balls, make snakes and cupcakes.

It takes an older person her full  time to get it pliable.

By the time I had worked over the tiny jars, Michael and Alice had finished up and were ready to go onto another activity.

It is hard to see them dashing away to another place of interest.  Inside I am saying, "No -- you have to play now that the material is perfect for you."

But they are long gone before I can get those words out of my mouth.

Lobster

Here is the story of Hebe's first encounter with a lobster.

While visiting with a family friend on Saturday, Hebe expressed an interest in a lobster that they saw at the grocery store.

"I don't want to touch it."

The friend bought it for Hebe.

"Will it bite me?"

When I arrived to bring Hebe home, I was surprized by the unusual gift.

"Mmmm."

We took it home and had fun checking it out.

"Yummy!"

"Look, I'm a vampire."

This is a picture of Hebe Jarvis, doing her part in her school production of Grease.

What can get much cuter than that.

I asked Wyona if school productions like this are a common phenomenon.  She said yes and that in fact Gabe is going to be Donkey in his school production of Shrek. And Zach also has a part in that production, though Marcia will have to give us the name of the character Zach plays.  I don't know the dates, either -- my best guess is May 1, 3 and 5.
