Raspberries and hitchhikers

I haven't picked raspberries for 2 days now and I noticed yesterday that there was a lot of red peaking through the leaves, so this morning's breakfast plan was Greek yogurt with fresh berries.

I was off to a good start when this happened.

Dropped my bucket while picking.

Sigh.  No big deal. I am not opposed to eating ground berries.  So I scooped them back up.  Well... you can't actually scoop without crushing them, so each berry has to be carefully picked up individually.

I got this. I picked up a handful that had landed on this side of the bush, and knew when I came back down the other side I could get the rest.

I had started with the smaller bushes, and as the bushes got bigger, so did the berries.

Finally one big enough to eat in my favourite way.

I was very happy with my raspberry haul.

Now to rescue the last of the fallen berries. Since my container was full, I just ate these off the ground right away. Mmmmm.

Not gonna waste one berry

Back at the house, I discovered I had a hitchhiker.

Fly away little friend.

Of course I had to go out looking for the name is this glittering beauty. I love the name of this bug website where I found my answer:

Finally... breakfast.
