Rivers and Streams (or, Arta's Coronaries)

 

Catherine showed me some photos she had found in one of Arta's binders.  I looked quickly and saw this! 

I asked her, what rivers was Arta keeping images of?   

In the back of my mind were all the maps I have seen of the Shuswap area, and its lakes and tributaries.   Was this part of the Shuswap, or part of the Columbia river system? (The lake property is located in the "Columbia-Shuswap Regional District" after all.)    I was thinking of a map something like this: 

And then she showed me the third photograph, to make visible that we were actually looking at Arta's heart, and its network of tributaries!  

What I was looking at was the "Before" and "After" photo following her heart attack back in March of 2017 (a few days after dad died)

Then I went back to the first photos, and she pointed out that you can see the blockage in Arta's coronary in the first one, and its absence after the doctors did their magic on here.

This led to a hysterical conversation, and set of recollections about the way Arta (for whom the word "stoic" was invented) finally suggested to Catherine (in the middle of the night) that something might be off!   :-).
