80 Things We Love About Arta: Number 28: Lunch buffet with Mary

Cruising with Arta and Mary was a real joy. I think Arta contacted Mary the week our cruise ship was leaving to tell her she could come because Arta's partner was unable to come. Mary made it to Barcelona one day before we arrived. No time to think about it, just do it. On one of our cruising days with no port to stop at Celebrity put on a classy buffet, it was a new thing they were trying out.  These are photos of that buffet.

Some things are just too pretty to eat and what to choose! One of everything is quite a bit too much.
What is Arta waiting for? Whatever it is she is being very patient.
There were ice statues adorning many of the tables.
And then there was the chocolate fountain. This fountain spurred Arta and I on to buying a chocolate fountain to use at the lake. I rented one for Jamie and Trent's wedding. Arta went online to buy one and then at the last minute Arta checked the recipe of the chocolate. The recipe uses at least 1 to 3 parts oil, probably to keep the chocolate flowing. Maybe that is why Trent's bosses' son threw up on the way home from the reception. Lurene calls it an oil and chocolate fountain. No chocolate fountain for us.
Such a nice way to keep drinks ice cold.
On this ship there was a glass blowing show. There were glass artifacts that had been blown all over the ship. Mary went to almost every glass show with Arta in tow. The glass show no longer exists on the Solstice. Neither does the classy buffet exist. We were lucky to have both when we were cruising.
Beautiful Mary is now waiting for salad, I think.
I love it that the Leaning Tower of Pisa is actually leaning.

  1. Oh Wyona, I had forgotten about this buffet. It was more than spectacular. It was unbelievable. And yes, as a glass lover, I couldn't believe how lucky I was to be on a cruise with an on-board outdoor glass blowing studio with regular demonstrations. I remember that throughout the demo's they would ask questions and if you knew the answer they would take you name and put it in a draw to win one of the items they had made. I was so disappointed not to have won. Well, not that disappointed -- how could I be in the midst of that wonderful time spent with Arta (and you and Greg of course).

  2. Am I the only person who has not cruised with parents, aunts and uncles? I shall make it a travel priority when we can all travel again. Looks like an amazing cruise. The food, sculptures, and glass blowing is stunning!
