Not sure what year this was (put it in the comments if you remember), but one summer, Arta started a (feminist?) Writers Club for the young cousins at the lake.
I love all the photos she got of everyone looking at texts together!
I can see in the photos, that everyone in the writers club was female (woman or girl).
I know she was thinking lots about feminism in those days, and was trying to open up spaces of possibility for everyone. I know that there had not been too much talk at the time about further disruptions to the gender binary. :-).
I imagine that if she started up the writers club again, it might be a non-binary one, open to all who were interested in writing, and sharing their writing with eachother.













I must have been in medical school at this time so after 1994. I don't think I was involved in this reading group during any summer. Looks like it was fun.
