Tonight we (Rebecca, Bonnie and Mary) flipped through the crumbling remenants of Arta's Babybook.
Not so surprising that it is falling apart: it was a gift to Wyora and Doral, from Uncle Mac and Aunt Leonore on March 8th, 1940 (a few months before Arta was born).
Indeed, there is a little poem taped on the first page (written on the back of an envelop) in which a young soon-to-be-father (Doral?) mediates on the unknown possibiity of a girl or boy child. A bit of gender-binary imagining, but acknowledging that the anticipation of a new baby is nothing but a moment for joy.

We tried to take a scan of the full book. I will try to post it to the Grandmother Arta blog. I also tried to take some close up photos of the different photos that are pasted into the book (as they did not scan so well). Here they are!
