Wyona pressed tickets for a musical called Hair into the hands of Glen, Connor, David and me.
Earlier that morning, Glen and I had gone to our old friend, Wikipedia, to refresh our minds about why the title of this musical was familiar to us.
Hair was revived on Broadway in 2009 and the London Production opened last month. Audience warnings included, do not sit on the isle seats unless you are willing to have your hair braided by the actors or unless you want daisies pressed into your hands. Another note said that the show ends with a Be-In on stage -- everyone in the audience invited to come up and dance with the cast.
The Pillings and I are not ones to make a race for the stage, which would have to be done after the first invitation to come to the stage was made, for soon the isles weere filled with people, some being carried on the backs of others to the front of the auditorium.
I think it was enough that one of the actresses laid herself down across Connor's lap, put her head in David's lap and twirled his hair with her fingers. She was a short actress and didn't quite stretch as long as three seats which would have put her in Glen's lap as well.
I was familiar with two songs: "The Dawning of the Age of Acquarius" and "Let the Sun Shine In". Glen knew more of the songs and reminded the other three of us that this was his generations, which is why having a short hair cut thrust upon you in the 1960's could have been a traumatic event.
In the morning, Glen had been out researching what it meant to say that someone had a bohemian life style. I was familiar with that tune, but did not have hold of the lyrics of the songs as he seemed to have.
As to a bohemian life stle, the costuming for the show had enough ruffled cotton skirts, multi-coloured beade, fringed vests and talk about levitating the Pentagon to leave us with no illusions, only the facts on "the bohemian life style".
The orchestra was a nine piece band, set up on the front of an old pick-up truck.
That image seemed to be the flipside of today's event of the tail-gate parties -- both of them a lot of fun.
Love,
Arta
