Poetry from the Past

I was chatting with Moiya tonight and quoted the first line of a poem Doral used to quote to us.  Moiya couldn't bring to mind  the rest of the poem, though she recognized the first line.  So here the complete poem is, in all its glory.

Their meeting it was sudden, their parting it was sad.
She gave her own true life for him, the only one she had.
And now she lays asleeping, beneath the apple bough,
And this it always happens when a freight train meets a cow.
