Hunting Winds Down

We almost got 1 or 2 deer tonight. It's good and bad that we didn't.

I have an animal already, as does my father-in-law and another friend.

All of the deer have had a chance to hang in Arta's garage.  All are at the butchers now.

All of the tags that are left are for a cow draw just south of Calgary.

So ... hunting will be winding down here quickly.

What a life!

I'm so happy with hunting.

You couldn't have a better excuse to go explore the beautiful Alberta countryside. One of the side events is that you see tons of magpie groups on the side of the road in the hunting areas, picking at the left over gut pile, or left over parts.

The magpies will do that in the city as well, if they can find a stash of animal parts in someone's garbage.

  1. That is an amazing pictures. It looks like it should be in the 'Hunting the Wilds of Alberta' magazine, if there was such a thing. Richard, you look rugged, like you just stepped out of your wooden log home, with a cup of steaming java in your hand, wondering what the vast forest would provide for you today. You even have a Halloween costume ready to go for next year with REAL blood on it. :)
