Things We Love About Arta: No:35 Cruising with Arta/Moiya/Alex/Wyona

And here we are still cruising from South Hampton in England to the Canary Islands return. We had such delicious suppers in the dining hall and then went to a show every night. And we never had to peel a carrot or wash a dish. It was heavenly!

Here we are sailing into Tenerife, the largest of the Canary Islands. Look at the rainbow to greet us. Who lined the volcanic mountains up.
And now we are jumping to Lanzarote where gelato is the pick of the day. Why did Arta buy a small cone? Bet she is sorry now.
And back to the rainbow over Tenerife.
Vigo again with the posing people. And below are Moiya and Arta enjoying the sail into Vigo.
Arta standing in front of El Sireno monument on Praza Porta do Sol in Vigo, Spain. Is it a mermaid or siren and maybe both.
We do look good. You can tell by the smiles.

Bananagrams with Breakfast at the Lake

Betty is an early riser. She is usually awake at least 1 hour before her brother Michael and her sister Alice.

On the days that I'm also an early riser, she likes to catch me for an early morning table top game one-on-one.

Usually we play Uno. Occasionally we play Guacamole. Today she brought me a game that has scrabble-like tiles stores in a cloth bag shaped like a banana.

We didn't have any rules, so we just began to make words with 7 letters each. We decided we could trade with each other if we saw a letter we needed in the other person's pile.

Can you believe that in our first round we worked together and Betty found all the letters for her name? That was a fun stroke of luck. Soon we were joined by her siblings. We were running out of letters so we found a way to get more names in using a crossword-like pattern.

Mystery Scarf -- Part Two

The day after the mystery scarf arrived, Arta got another package.  Another two beautiful scarves. This time Van Gogh and Monet paintings.

With some investigation, we found out it was Eric who had sent them.

(VIDEO EVIDENCE):  In which (the unseen Rebecca...recording the video) reveals that she has figured out the identity of the secret scarf sender!

And so, the mystery was solved.   Knowing that Arta prefers not to get cut flowers as a gift, Eric had sent her flowers via silk scarves.

More scarves for the gantry.  We did notice that the gantry has a weight limit of 450 pounds, so room for lots more scarves.

Arta's been wearing a different scarf each day for her walk around the hospital unit.

And this scarf matches Arta's mask.

Mystery Scarf -- An Unexpected Gift

Arta received a package in the mail.  We brought it to the hospital and she opened it.  It was a beautiful, silk, Klimt scarf. We had not clue who had sent it.

We had already hung Arta's two other scarves in Arta's room from the gantry -- the equipment people can use to help lift them out of bed.

She noted that her new turquoise glasses looked good with all the scarves and that the scarves and glasses should be put together as decor for her room.

From Arta: An outing in the garden today

Walking in the gardens of the Royal Jubilee Hospital we came across this single flower that had fallen on the ground.  We would not have been able to find the bush it came from except that I had already looked up and saw that this very tall tree was covered with them.

From Arta: Happy Birthday to Deb Curran

Its Deb Curran's birthday today.  On her birthday she delivers gifts to others she loves or is thinking of -- to others who are in her sphere of infuence.

Rebecca was such a person today. Mary and I are lucky eough this year to have been in that sphere of influence.

Deb's politics are part of her practice.  And the gift she gave to other involved a gift that neither takes from nor gives to the world in ways that damage the world.  And so we got to enjoy locally grown flowers.

For me part of the beauty is that I can enjoy the beauty of the flower vase over and over again.  I have been struck by the colours that have resounded back and forth as I have shared the amazement that belongs to everyone when we celebrate our birthdays or our unbirthdays.
