Gone Fishing

Matiram Pun after his fishing lesson
Matirami  Pun successfully defended his thesis and is returning to Nepal.  He went to Annis Bay for a small holiday.

He sends me a picture and writes the following:

"I enjoyed the sun and lake. Later, Glen taught me how to hold fishing rod and do fishing."

I say, nothing much better in the world than the feeling of catching your first pikeminnow (formerly known as squaw fish).

Ah, sweet fishing.

Glen said the he talked with Mati about casting, fishing with bait and fishing baitless for he had never fished before. Mati didn’t like casting for the string kept getting tangle.  He tried catching food off of the dock.  He put on his last worm and then tried to reel it in but the string was tugging.

Glen was mowing at my house and said everyone was yelling, "Mati caught a fish".

Mati had come up from the lake.  The fish was still on the line and still wiggling. Glen taught him how to bonk the fish.

Mati came the next day to fish again. Glen was moving his compost and at the bottom were some nice worms, so Glen got him a bucket full of those worms packed in nice earth so they would be alive.

Glen also told Mati that personally, he doesn't fish, for he never catches anything.  Mati was successful on the second day, as well.

Glen should try his own advice.  There might be a fish waiting for him in the lake.
