Nightmare Inducing Birthday Parties

Naomi went to her best frien's birthday party at the Museum of Civilization.  The party had an Egyptian theme.  They talked about mummies, made scarabs and saw a mummified cat.  She had a great time.

From British Museum.  Miaow.
Of course later that night she couldn’t sleep because all she could think about was someone pulling your brains out through you nose.  Telling her that she would never be mummified herself did not seem to quell the fears.

How’s that for a great birthday party?

  1. So cute...and for the record, I would have been up worrying about my brain as well.

  2. Remember when Catherine Jarvis let her kids see Oliver, and then for one whole year, Katie prayed every night to Heavenly Father that she wouldn't have to go sleep in a coffin like Oliver did in musical.

I just taped that musical for when David comes here for Easter vacation. I spent some time last summer just teaching him the "Food, Glorious Food" refrain. I am toying as to whether I will fast forward through that coffin part for him in March, or if I should save it for him if he is being disobedient.

As I child, I used to hate that part in Bambi where the great Prince comes into the meadow and tells Bambi he will never see his mother again.

Cautionary tales! I used to like to read the Grimmn's ones to your kids, Mary. Nothing like having tales of when your parents take you into the woods and loose you now, is there?

  3. I have been thinking about nightmare inducing events since you brought to my mind childhood fears. Another one for me as a child was watching "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow". That one was almost worse than Bambi losing his mother. Ichabod Crane pursued by the headless horseman, the trees seeming to reach out to grab him, the hollow sound of the horses feet echoing in the covered bridge. If I have nightmares tonight, it will be because I have been thinking about Washington Irving's story.
