Bates in Santiago

Hello to all of you from warm and sunny South America.

Just a few photos from Santiago.

I just loved this statue of books.

It is all rusty but still fabulous.

San Christobal hill is famous.

There is a very steep funicular to take you to the top of the hill.

The two cars pass half way up the hill.

We are going up and the car you see has just passed us.
Walking though the park is this fountain.

There is a little boy in the fountain throwing water at the dog.

I wish Ivan, Andrew and the other 12 grandchildren were here to go in the fountain.

Everytime one walks buy a fountain, there is someone washing clothes in it, filling their hat with water and letting it run down their body or just getting themselves all wet to cool off.

This photo was taken at the top of the hill.

Santiago is far below us.

Greg is sporting his blue shirt and behind him is the city with the Andes mountains in the background.

I remember hearing about the Andes when I was younger and in school.

There is a lot of pollution here which masks the mountains.

Greg just cannot resist the mess of wires attached to the funicular.

  1. Love the photo of the wires. Made me laugh. I will go to bed dreaming of Lapis Lazouli. Didn't Nephritite have some of those stones on one of her crowns? Seeing the funicular made me think of all "the new" you have shown me around the world, Wyona. Lucky me. Now, to get saving for more trips and more jewels. I must get 100 wears out of my pearls before I make my next purchase.

I was ogling Moiya's pearl earrings. I bemoaned not having a pair. Then she bemoaned not having my necklace.

=) a good thing to complain about. =)
