Idea Fest

This week Idea Fest is being held at the University of Victoria.

One of the projects from the law school was a presentation of original works of art done as assignments for law classes, mainly Family Law, Sex-O and Business Associations.  The idea was to show projects that have been done in these classes that are outside of the ordinary essay assignments.

Students were invited to write a regular essay on an assigned topic, or to take that same topic and then present their material to the teacher in an art from: dance, drama, art, music and here they were to also tell about the process of their work.

The idea is that the process was more important than the project or at least the grade would be significant on the process described. There is a large classroom – two glass walls and inside it is a wonderful space where dispute resolution training goes on.

There is the insignia of the government at the front of the room, with a judges benches and a witness box. The tables and chairs were taken out of this room and the objects that might be of interest were displayed there. Below are some of those items:
This is a book and when it was handed in as a project
there was a plant growing out of the middle of the pages.

I will post more of the projects tomorrow since it is fun seeing what is going on.
