St. Patrick's Day in Yello

Yello-on-Yates
Victoria, B.C.
Rebecca’s friend Sara Ramshaw invited friends and family to come for a St. Patrick’s Day dinner – Irish stew and Irish bread plus Irish hats to wear, and shamrocks on water glasses.

All of the guest wore green.

Lorinda Fraser came to Rebecca’s house so that we could drive in the same car downtown, a measure to double up since parking is not that easy. Sara lives in a yellow building, which I was later to find is not only the colour of the building yellow, but the name of the building: Yello-on-Yates

A clever turn of phrase.

Steaming home-made Irish stew served in a tureen, the table decked with the serving blow, the salad plate, the bread plate, the dinner plate, all nestled inside of one another. And then conversation the lingers late into the evening. I don’t know why I don’t think to have a March 17th St. Patrick’s Day event.

Perhaps next year.
