The Pomegranate Challenge - The Tasting

"Yes.  That was good.  I think I will taste another,"
he says, taking a second seed from Pouria's hand.

Our game did not include anything more than the contest between the Black-Dished and the White-Dished team, to see who could open their pomegranate first. But this is Pouria’s favourite fruit. He offered some to David saying, “Take, eat. This fruit is delicious. I like to eat a lot of it. Look, I can eat it with a spoon."

Then setting his dish aside he said,  "I can eat some of seeds right out of my hand. Look. I can toss them into my mouth with the flick of my wrist."

David wanted to try some of the options. In our house, if it is good for Pouria, it is good for David. S

o David began to eat the pomegranate.

... a big wow from the judge and jury ...
Kelvin was to be the judge in the contest as it went on.

The action went from one phase to the next so quickly, that Kelvin couldn’t keep up with the tiers of contest events.

He did, however, enjoy the pace of the action which was about to change again.

... hold it between your lips and
bring your tongue to the front of your mouth ...
To digress, David has not yet developed the talent of spitting. The rest of us in the room have the action that lets us move our tongue around in our mouthes to find bits of food that need to be brought forward ... as well as the expectorating talent that is necessary around tooth brushing. David has neither skill.

At this moment, his mother could see that Pouria might be the role model to help David learn what she has not been able to teach him for five years.

The target was set up – a stainless steel cooking pot.

Pouria carefully explained "method" a few times.  He also demonstrated with such force that the seed ricochets off the target. Pouria gave David some practise tries.

... direct hit ...
Then ... David shoots.

He scores.

The crowd goes wild.
