Tourism - Canoing

... wet to the arm pits ...
David Wood took my canoe down to the water so that Pouria could take a spin around the lake. I didn't know Pouria had never canoed before. He seemed confident.  Everything would have been fine, but when he got out past the dock he realized he had forgotten his life jacket. He came back to get it and tried to step out of the canoe onto the dock. Down into the water went the canoe, his cell phone, his camera and his body --water up to his arm pits.
... How far out were you in the lake when you went down? ...
He got on his life jacket, re-entered the canoe and took a spin to the middle of the lake soaking wet. The cold forced him back to shore.  He warmed up with a shower, put on some dry clothes and took a second try in the canoe. By this time Glen had given him some tips about where to sit in the canoe when you are in it alone, and how to paddle the "J" stroke so that you don't have to keep switching the canoe from side to side. The next day he was out in the canoe again.  Why not?

  1. If you drop your cell phone in water, DO NOT turn it on. Wipe the phone as dry as you can. Take the cell phone and put it in a plastic zip lock bag with some dry rice. Seal the bag. Leave it for 2 days. The rice will soak up the water from the phone. Turn the phone on and you may have a chance of the phone working. I learned this in my I Pad class.
