I never know how birthday greetings are going to go.
I usually send out a group email wishing someone a Happy Birthday and others respond.
That is about it for Happy Birthday at our house, or from my house to yours.
Today was Kelvin’s 50th birthday.
He wondered if this were the decade when he could enter the folds reserved for grumpy old men, and with that the email’s took off between and amongst his siblings, wondering if grumpy old man is a state of mind or a philosophical fact.
Finally Mary reminded all that the words old man are best captured in a bit of Monty Python, a show everyone seems to know but me. At the end of the day, there was lots of laughter and Kelvin willingly, or begrudgingly entered the new decade: the fifties.
Young to some and a ways away, say Mary and Richard.
