River Rock Cafe - 100 Mile Diet

... the bowl is full of plum crisp ...
Our neighbours, Janet and Moiya, have been sharing the food from their gardens and fruit trees. This makes it easy to follow the rule of eating food that is grown within 100 miles of where I live.

My fridge crispers are full of pears.

We make Greek Salad with their cucumbers and tomatoes.

I scan recipes on the internet, looking for ways to use up the plums.

... now have I added just the right amount of cream?  or too much? ...
The plum crisps taste best when they are hot out of the oven. They are tart – full-bodied with flavour. I try to figure out how much cream to add. I haven’t got the proportions right yet, but I keep trying.

We eat outside on the River Rock tables and chairs from China.

The food tastes even better out there though our wasp traps are not working as they should.  We are learning to inhale and then breathe slowly as the wasps pass by us.
