Happy (belated) Birthday Richard -- Our Trip to See Arta: A Photo Essay -- Part I

Richard and Mary driving through Vancouver on the was to the ferry terminal. Mary gets super excited about the bridges (one of her files at her job involves these particular bridges -- can you name them?).

A couple of shots of Richard driving and one of his tattooed arm.  Mary loves Richard's tattoos.

Driving toward the ferry terminal.  Mary again gets excited when she looks to the right and sees the Roberts Bank container port (again associated with work files) and the container cranes. So much transportation.  Richard laughs.

On the ferry to Vancouver Island. Mary gets excited about all the "marine transportation" she sees -- active pass of ferry heading other direction, and tug boat pulling another ship.

On arriving in Victoria, first breakfast is of course made by Richard and is crepes.  He's the expert. Mary simply stages the photo by bringing Arta the newest edition of the New Yorker.

Rebecca managed to get us to the beach once for a walk the day they stole Arta from us (well, the day she was admitted to hospital and the only bed they could get her was on cardiac unit which had extremely strict rules about visitors -- ie: none allowed whatsoever). We went to Arbutus Cove.

Mary was the only person brave enough to take off shoes and walk into the ocean.  Here she is taking a picture from the water of Richard take a picture of her from the shore.

And making Richard crouch so he doesn't block the view of the ocean in this selfie photo.

On the way back to the house, we stopped to smell the cherry blossoms which were in full bloom.

  1. I love you. We always live too far apart.

  2. yes to living too far apart.... all of us. One part not visible is me trying to also force a second walk in the woods, with Mary telling us that if I made her do one more thing, she would have to cry and hug a tree. OK. that is the note for 'resting time'!

  3. You should all move to Victoria then we wouldn't live far apart. (From me - tongue in cheek)

  4. Dropping Arta off at the hospital must really suck! You had a great time waiting for her stuff to be finished.
