Cinnamon buns with maraschino cherries

Cherries on the bottom
"the secret ingredient"
Mary walked in the door saying we should make some bread tonight -- some for cinnamon buns and the rest in loaves.

She was so tired when she came home from work that she neeed to go lay down for a minute.

Still the task was set. Not just cinnamon buns but cherries on the bottom of the pan.

"I haven't done that for years," I said, continuing, "and then only at Christmas".

Oh yes, it is Christmas.

So here they are, waiting to rise.

Our last batch turned out one loaf of bread.  We left it so long that there was as much rising out of the pan as there was in the pan.  There never was such a loaf of bread, unless it was one made in a Hutterite colony.  Even two days later Mary is remembering that it was more air than bread.
