The chicory along the path to the lake

I want to linger in this spot as I go fishing.

The chicory are in bloom.

The bright blue of the flower is mirrored in the blue of the lake.

The plants are in full bloom.  I read in Wiki that some cultures eat the leaves.  They boil them to get rid of the bitterness.  Then fry them with some garlic and anchovies and put this over pasta.  I think the little ones for whom we cook will be just as happy with Mac and Cheese, so I only think of this recipe instead of adding it to my list of favs.
