Root Beer Ice Cream Floats

July 7, 2018

We have been waiting all day to have Root Beer Ice Cream Floats. The question is never if we can have them, nor how big the floats will be. The question is what time will sipping them occur. So far we have served them in glass stemware, frosted sundae cups, with our long handled gold spoons, stirring them with large tablespoons, we have tried to do it all. Today people could keep track of how many servings they had, and how many scoops of ice-cream were in each serving (3, 2 or 1). Michael is growing. He is eating man-sized portions of food at meals, and the floats were 4 of 2, 3, 2 and 2 today. I don’t shake my head at this, for last year I watched him eat servings that were far less than the size of his fist and saying during them that he was full.

We have experienced the joys of the bubbles that rise to the top of the sundae when root beer is drizzled on top of the ice-cream. And we have experienced the sorrow of having it run down our chins and onto our clothing when trying to sip it from the wrong side of a cup.
